“I have had the distinct pleasure and privilege of knowing Brewster since my family moved back to Austin in 2001. The Austin we moved back to was quite different from the Austin I knew in the 1960s when I attended Austin High School or the one in the 1970s when I was going to UT Law School. It was no longer a small town built around the University, Bergstrom Air Force Base and the state government; it had become a thriving and vibrant city offering unique opportunities in business, culture, education and entertainment. But importantly, Austin had retained its character of tolerance, its love of nature and the outdoors and its creative spirit.
Upon moving back to Austin I got to know Brewster pretty well because we practiced law together for over three years. I have absolutely no doubt that Brewster is exactly the kind of person Austin needs to lead us through the challenges we now face. He is smart, articulate, thoughtful, a great listener, dedicated to solving problems in a way that benefits the community in the long run, a very hard worker and a person of great integrity and vision. Brewster is a natural leader who builds consensus and works tirelessly to earn the trust and confidence of ordinary citizens. I believe he is uniquely qualified to move Austin forward in the 21st century to address the many needs we have to maintain our beautiful city, including those in the areas of transportation, renewable energy, rational development, and sustained but reasonable economic growth. Under Brewster’s leadership as mayor Austin can continue to thrive, and grow, as one of the greatest cities in the country. That is why I am strongly supporting Brewster for mayor.”
